Optimism and pessimism affects trust greatly, because both of these qualities can bring denial or acceptance of certain outcomes in any situation.

Being optimistic is denying the practical negative possibility.

Being pessimistic is denying the practical positive outcome.

Acknowledge that there are those who lie, steal, and reciprocate the bad qualities done unto them.
